What is Overseeding?
Overseeding is the process of adding new grass seed to an existing lawn to improve its density, repair bare spots, and ensure a thick, lush appearance. It’s an essential service to rejuvenate thinning lawns and prepare for different seasons.
Types of Overseeding:
1. Overseeding to Fill Bare Spots and Thinning Grass
If your lawn has thin or bare areas, overseeding with the same type of grass seed used in your existing lawn can help fill these spots and improve overall coverage. This type of overseeding uses the same grass variety (cool-season or warm-season, depending on your current lawn type) to thicken existing turf and provide a uniform, healthy lawn. This overseeding is best to do during the growing season (spring or late summer)
Why is it beneficial?
Restores Lawn Density: Helps areas that are thinning or have bare patches to grow fuller and more even.
Enhances Overall Appearance: Promotes a lush, green lawn by filling in gaps where grass may have died or become weak.
Better Weed Control: A thicker lawn naturally outcompetes weeds by crowding them out and preventing them from establishing.
2. Fall Overseeding for Year-Round Green Lawns (Cool-Season Grass on Warm-Season Lawn)
In fall overseeding, we apply cool-season grass (such as fescue) over warm-season grass (like Bermuda or Zoysia) during its dormant period. This allows for a green lawn throughout the year, even when the warm-season grass goes dormant in the cooler months. The best time for fall overseeding is in the early fall (late September to October).
Why is it beneficial?
Year-Round Green Lawn: Fall overseeding keeps your yard looking green and lush during the cooler months when your warm-season grass would typically go dormant.
Maximizes Lawn Aesthetics: Creates a uniform, healthy appearance year-round with different grasses complementing each other.
Improved Turf Resilience: Cool-season grass provides protection for the warm-season grass during winter months and prepares it for a healthier spring growth.
How Much Does Overseeding Cost?
Overseeding Pricing
We determine overseeding costs based on your lawn’s total square footage, with pricing influenced by the cost of grass seed. Cool-season seed is generally more affordable than warm-season seed, which can impact overall pricing.
Tiered Pricing for Better Value!
Our pricing follows a tiered structure—meaning the larger your lawn, the lower the cost per square foot. As your lawn size increases, the per-square-foot rate decreases, ensuring fair, competitive pricing while delivering high-quality results for every yard.
